Message From The Principal

Dear Elmhurst Family Members and Guests,

This year is flying by! I can’t believe that we are already preparing for summer. It has been such an honor for me to have served the students and families of the Franklin Pierce School District as the principal of Elmhurst Elementary. These past two years have been filled with wonderful memories. I’m very proud of all that has been accomplished here. At the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, I will be transitioning out of this role. Steve Mondragon will serve as the Elmhurst Elementary principal starting July 1, 2019.

Recently our students have taken the Washington Smarter Balanced Assessment. Each class of students has worked very hard all year learning in preparation to “show what they know.” Our fabulous teachers have been committed to providing the best possible learning experiences. They have worked hard and have been dedicated. We are just starting to get results back and the initial scores look wonderful. The rate of improvement over previous years seems to be very strong.

Another great gain for Elmhurst this year has been in staff retention. I’m thrilled that so many of our great teachers are staying at Elmhurst for next year and will continue building the relationship bonds with our students and families. This is the best way for Elmhurst to become an even better community school. The momentum going into the next school year is powerful.

Throughout the year our school enjoyed having numerous family events, where students, staff, and family members have come together for educational and fun events. It has been such a joy seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of a community coming together all to support the students of this great school.

Again, it has been my pleasure serving you. It has been a privilege to be a part of this fantastic community and I look forward to seeing what you can collectively accomplish with Mr. Mondragon.

Warm regards,

Theressa Prather
